- Learn Joint assessments- Active, Passive + Resisted
- Learn Muscle Testing
- Learn Ligament Testing
- Revise surface anatomy
- Learn Palpation skills
- Learn Special tests & When to apply them

- Small Course sizes to ensure maximal experiential learning
- We run our Certificated Glasgow courses with 4 candidate spaces maximum – this ensures an optimal learning experience for small candidate courses. A policy that has been brilliantly received and we will keep.
The MSK Examination and Assessment course will be theoretical but mainly practical and finishes with an assessment using the protocols on one of the areas covered during the course.
The course consists of the assessment of the following areas both joint and surrounding musculature,- Ankle, Knee, Hip, Shoulder, Elbow and Hand.
A sound working knowledge of anatomy is required to attend and if you are unsure get in touch and we will advise pre-reading literature. A guideline would be anatomical landmarks, origins and insertions of main muscle groups covering the joints listed above.
Protocols
Joint Testing – Anatomical range of movement, actively, passively and resisted testing.
Muscle Testing – How to perform muscle testing on the muscles passing over the joint being assessed and what position the muscle should be tested.
Palpation – anatomical landmark, where and why palpate. Ligament testing – Testing of the ligaments and capsule surrounding the joint being assessed.
Special Tests – when to apply these – e.g. Trendelenberg, Apleys, and many more. Functional Testing – when do you apply these, examples are shown.
A hard copy Course manual will be provided detailing the areas to be assessed and the structures involved. The position of the joints/limbs during testing will also be in the manual.
