Peter Howson 300 Miles Walk for Scottish Autism E-mail

YOU may not know it but 2 April is World Autism Awareness Day. This is also the day I with Peter Howson will begin a 300-mile walk across Scotland on behalf of Scottish Autism to help raise awareness and understanding about this condition (and hopefully lots of money in the process).

We begin on Wednesday 2nd April in Aberdeen and will finish in Ayr on Thursday 24th April 300 miles later. My role is to provide physical therapy needs to Peter and the team during our walk as well as maximizing the fundraising effort. Please read Peters comments below and donate if you can.

The Edinburgh Marathon 2014 Event is coming soon 24th and 25th May and I'm sure we all know someone,family or friend who is running in this for a good cause. In The "run-up" to this wonderful and incredibly demanding task i tend to have clients looking for a sports massage to help prepare for the big day. Massage is a wonderful way to help someone prepare for an event like the Edinburgh Marathon. It helps the muscle tissue relax before the event and therefore can psychologically help in the mental preparation for the marathon.

Saturday and Sunday ( Weekend ) Sports Therapy , Kinesiology , Sports Massage and Physiotherapy Appointments Glasgow.


At Sports Therapy Scotland we have offered Saturday appointments for the last year or so and due to demand we will be offering Sunday appointments  from Sunday 8th March. These weekend appointments will be available every Saturday and Sunday at Sports the Therapy Scotland Glasgow Clinic . Appointment treatments include,- Sports Therapy, Kinesiology, Sports Massage and Physiotherapy. 

All Therapists who will be treating clients are BSc(Hons) and MSc qualified with years of experience in recreational sport , professional sport and of course in the Hospital / Medical environment.

Sessions are - £30 - 30 minutes or £40 - 45 minutes.

What does Theo Walcott's ACL and Ligament injury mean for him?

Arsenal and England got bad news on Monday after scans showed that Theo Walcott, the speedy star winger for club and country, has sprained knee ligaments, including his ACL, and will require reconstructive surgery, according to Arsenal's official website.


The club announced the injury on Monday after Walcott was hurt in Saturday's FA Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Plenty of better writers than I will be penning tributes to Eusébio. Devour them, understand them and remember Eusébio. Go on to Youtube and find videos of the man. Admire him. Remember him. Be thankful he kicked a ball in the sport we loved.

All too often when someone dies there is a rush to flood them in superlatives. The mediocre are often elevated to mythic. We see ''legend' or 'all-time great' attached to those who were, in life, did not meet that criteria.


Whilst this is understandable and, to an extent, necessary what it means is that when a real titan - like Eusébio - passes we don't have words to fit. Words like legend have become so overused we glaze over when we see them. If everyone is a legend then no one is.

I suffer lower back pain on and off – but mostly off, thankfully. I try to maintain a strong core and I find that running keeps my back in fairly good working order. Yoga is a great aid to flexibility and I have now also introduced strength and conditioning sessions to my weekly workouts. But there is little you can do to prevent the back pain caused by a minor accident.
